From classroom business pitches to national recognition, Boxed has truly begun to establish a place for itself in the child education space, getting one step closer to creating a pathway for a smarter and stronger generation. However, it wasn’t as straightforward as it sounds. It all started with two high school girls, hundreds of hours of research, and one massive motivation to spread unique learning experiences to kids across the globe.
The inception of the Boxed brand took shape when high schoolers Jolene Hervey and Shana Guzman undertook the challenge of devising a business concept for a local entrepreneurship competition. Through numerous late-night research sessions and countless coffee shop visits, they crafted the initial blueprint for an educational subscription service named “Boxed.” The inspiration behind creating the Boxed brand stemmed from their extensive experience in a child education preschool, where they both observed a notable absence of readily available, hands-on, and engaging activities for kids. They were disappointed by the lack of stimulation kids were receiving due to an excess in screen time, so Boxed was the missing piece to their education puzzle.
The journey only took off from there. Boxed was not only presented to dozens of other entrepreneurs, it was presented across multiple elementary and preschools in order to truly test the products. With a few minor tweaks and changes, Boxed launched a site in November of 2023. The development of Boxed may still be in the early stages, but with more support for the concept, comes more potential for growth.
The Boxed team works tirelessly to ensure that children will receive quality education mixed with fun and engaging experiences. New ideas are being created every day, and innovation is no stranger to the Boxed team.
